Having trouble with your Kenmore Elite Front Load Washer? Before you call the repairman, we have some tips for troubleshooting common error codes to hopefully save you precious time and money.
1. Error Code F06
This error code points to an issue with the drive motor. If this occurs mid-spin the door will automatically lock for a few minutes. The usual culprit is when the motor tachometer cannot detect the washer speed. You must remove the back panel and check the wiring harness between the drive motor and the control board. If this seems to be okay, you should check the resistance of the motor windings. If any of the windings appear to be open, the drive motor is likely bad and will need to be replaced.
2. Error Code F11
This error code pops up when the machine has some type of communication issue. The most common cause is when one of the wiring harnesses going to the control panel works its way loose. You can check this by removing the top of the washer and checking all connections. You will also want to check the door latch to make sure it is catching and closing properly. Occasionally, you will receive this code due to machine control board failure.
3. Error Code F dl
This error code occurs when there is an issue with the door latch. It will attempt to lock or unlock the latch six times before the code pops up. This can indicate a few problems, including door lock mechanism failure, loose wire harness going to the control panel, missing or broken door latch. You will want to try unplugging and plugging the washer back in to check for a glitch first. If the door is locked you can access the washer by removing the lower panel under the door, reach up into the washer on the right side until you feel the door latch assembly, then feel for the manual release tab, pull straight down and the door will open. Many times, the latch will need to be replaced.
4. Error Code SUD
This code indicates excess laundry detergent and soap suds. To alleviate this problem, you should first run the load on a rinse cycle and then run it through a regular wash cycle. If this does not work you will need to check your drain hose for kinks or clogs.
These troubleshooting tips can help you solve issues concerning the most common error codes found with the Kenmore Elite Front Load Washer.
