Sometimes, it becomes so difficult to endure the leaking Kohler shower valve in the bathroom. However, fixing this problem might only require you to finish it in half an hour. Simply make sure that you have authentic Kohler replacement parts and you should be done in no time. The most common problem causing this is the cartridge, a valve inside the body of the faucet. All you need to do is to replace this one with a new cartridge made by Kohler. After doing this, you will have your faucet to work like new.

Kohler Shower Valve Leaking and How to Fix It

Just make sure that you have a set of tools to be used in this procedure. Part of this method is the Allen wrench, replacement Kohler faucet cartridge and screwdriver. Here are some basic procedures that you can easily follow.

1. Turning the Main Water Valve Off

Ensure that you have shut down the main water source in your home prior to doing this method. You can find the main water source by the water heater. By doing this first, you will be able to keep the job neat without any messy water leaks all around the place.

2. Unscrewing the Handle

There is a set screw that you need to find which secures the handle onto the stem of the cartridge. Take note that Kohler models usually have it underneath the lever of the handle. You can loosen the screw with an Allen wrench by pulling back on the handle in order to remove it.

3. Removing the Adapter

If your shower valve has an adapter, loosen the screw of the adapter by using a screwdriver and slide it off the faucet.

4. Removing the Trim Plate

The trim plate can be removed by unscrewing the screws of the trim plate and lifting it from the shower wall. Loosen and remove a couple of screws in the cartridge collar. This is the housing that is holding the faucet cartridge. Use your screwdriver to do this and take the collar from the faucet. This collar contains the cartridge.

5. Replacing the Collar

You need to replace the collar with one that should come from Kohler itself. You may now tighten the screws of the collar. After that, you can now remove the trim plate and replace it with a product that comes from Kohler. Thus, you can now tighten the screws holding the trim plates. Likewise, you can replace the handle and adapter and you need to tighten the set screw of the handle.

If you think that doing this easy procedure is difficult to implement, then you should seek the assistance of a professional. Otherwise, you can just follow the easy steps and you can save on fees. Just make sure that you have everything you need, particularly the Kohler shower valve and parts, before you begin fixing the faucet leaks. This way, you can perform the procedure without having a hard time following the method on how to fix it.
